We now have cars parking on both sides of the lane and the number of times I nearly clipped a car when the lane was icy during the snow. Not all the cars are owned by visitors so it is residents who don’t want to park in their garages or parking spaces. There is no way that an ambulance would get down the lane most days now so you have to hope you are living on one of the ends if something happens. I know someone said, about a year ago?, that there had been a test run down the lane by a fire engine but things have got worse since then. Is it going to take a fatality for this to be taken seriously?

My heart always sinks when a job needs a plumber, electrician, handy man etc because you never know what you are getting or how much they will charge, or how good they will be, or how reliable. Hylton came in within about half an hour and not only fixed the leak, but fixed a radiator that was not working. I felt I was in the hands of a pro and the price was good too. I would not say I am looking forward to needing plumbing work again, but at least I know where to turn. Mike and Marion Sandell are sharing the pain of their grandson’s death and how they coped with this as Christians and how it affected their faith at the Beta course which aims to tackle some of life’s hard questions.

This week’s topic is : “Are pain and suffering direct results of evil. If God is a God of love, how can he permit all the suffering in the world?”

“The Prime Minister David Cameron has called for a return to Christian morals. What are Christian morals and can you have Christian morals without Christian belief?”

This is being led by Rev. Derek Hills of Kings Hill Christian Fellowship (he was formerly Senior Minister at Tonbridge Baptist Church). 7pm – 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, irrespective of their position on the subject, and there will be refreshments served.

Friday 23rd December - Liberty Church’s gospel choir will be performing at its annual Christmas celebration! 7pm at Borough Green Village Hall, High Street, Borough Green followed by snacks and refreshments.

Saturday 24th December – Christingle Service at Kings Hill Community Centre. It is a joint service between Kings Hill Christian Fellowship and the Church of England on Kings Hill at 3.30pm. Christingles will be lit and the children will sing around the Christmas tree, followed by mulled wine and mince pies. Apparently last year’s was great. There’s A Christingle service at 5pm at St Mary’s in West Malling and an 11.15pm midnight Communion service there too. St Michael’s in Offham has a Christingle Service at 4pm.

Sunday 25th December – A joint service between Kings Hill Christian Fellowship and the Church of England on Kings Hill at the Community Centre at 10.30am conducted by Rev. David Green. St Mary’s in West Malling has a Holy Communion Service at 8am and a family service at 10.45. St Mary’s in Offham has a Christmas day service at 9.30am.
